Food preparation and serving are strictly monitored to ensure hygiene and safety. Tenants are trained in food health, safety, and handling by UMN, and are required to follow standards that minimize waste, avoid use of harmful packaging such as styrofoam, and employ clean utensils and serving containers. Food sourcing prioritizes sustainable and local suppliers, many of which are UMKM partners, with vendors selected through a voting process involving the campus community.
Monitoring is conducted by a designated staff member from the Building Department, ensuring compliance with food safety, hygiene, and service standards. Tenants are subject to warnings, written notices, or contract termination if they violate the university’s healthy canteen standards or partnership agreements.
Since 2023, Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN) has implemented key policies to ensure healthy, safe, and affordable food on campus, particularly through its Rector’s Decree No. 062/SK-R/I/2023 – Canteen Food Criteria Regulations. Through these measures, UMN ensures that healthy, halal, nutritious, and affordable food is consistently available, supporting the well-being, dietary needs, and academic performance of its entire campus community.
