TANGERANG – The 2020 UMN Accounting student team won 3rd place in a national-level competition called IAI National Seminar and Competition (INSECT) 6.0 on Saturday (20/8). Jackson Yappinto, Michelle Miharja, and Venson Fillio shared their joys and pride to have reached this stage.

“I am delighted, because this can be a new step for our team and at the same time pride of our hard work. Proud [also] to be one of the students who can make UMN proud,” Venson said.

INSECT 6.0 is an important competition event for Venson, Michelle, and Jackson. Quoted from the Instagram account @insect.amiaijabar, INSECT 6.0 is an annual event organized by the AM IAI Forum for West Java Region.

For information, IAI is a professional organization that houses all Indonesian Accountants. IAI is also the only forum that represents the Indonesian accounting profession as a whole.

The INSECT 6.0 Olympiad contains accounting competitions at the high school/vocational/equivalent level throughout West Java, accounting olympiads at state universities in Indonesia, and accounting national seminars.

The UMN Accounting Team also participated in competitions at the university level throughout Indonesia. They compete with other outstanding students from all provinces in Indonesia. Participants in this competition are also challenged to think carefully and critically.

“In terms of learning that was carried out during uni lectures, it had really helped us in participating in this competition, because all the things that were contested had been taught at UMN,” Venson said.

Not only material, but they also received a very valuable experience. Venson and his teammates learned the importance of never giving up through this competition.

“The important thing is the experience from participating in the competition, I hope you guys are always enthusiastic about learning!,” Venson said.
