Anti Bullying, Sexual Violence, and Intolerance
To ensure a safe, respectful, and discrimination-free academic environment, UMN formally establishes its Anti Discrimination and Anti Harassment Policy through Decree No. 683/SK-R/XII/2024 concerning the Policy on Anti Bullying, Sexual Violence, and Intolerance at Universitas Multimedia Nusantara. Enacted in December 2024, this rectoral decree provides a binding institutional framework for all members of the university community.
The decree regulates the prevention and handling of bullying, sexual violence, and intolerance across the entire academic community, including the senate, lecturers, staff, students, and all individuals conducting activities within the campus environment. It affirms UMN’s commitment to fostering a culture of mutual respect, empathy, and recognition of diverse identities, including gender identity and gender expression. The policy establishes collective responsibility for prevention through education, socialization, and proactive campus initiatives that promote fairness and inclusion.
To ensure effective enforcement, the decree mandates active participation from the academic community in monitoring and reporting any conduct that may constitute bullying, sexual violence, or intolerance, without discrimination based on gender identity or other personal characteristics. UMN provides a secure, reliable, and sensitive reporting mechanism, guaranteeing confidentiality and full protection for complainants throughout the investigation and resolution process.
The social impact of this policy is evident in the strengthening of institutional safeguards against discrimination and harassment, the protection of vulnerable individuals, the promotion of fairness for all, and the advancement of gender equality and dignity within the academic environment. By integrating prevention measures, accountability mechanisms, and protections for those affected into formal governance structures, UMN demonstrates its commitment to maintaining an equitable, safe, and inclusive campus culture.
